China's Jihao Chen has clinched the Poker Dream 9 Malaysia Main Event after he started the heads-up battle against Australia's Tao Chen as the massive chip leader. In the past eight days, Poker Dream smashed its Main Event records at Genting Highlands by accumulating 2,096 entries, creating a total prize pool of RM 10,767,152 (~$2,266,656).
After a short heads-up battle, Chen took down his first Poker Dream dragon trophy and a whooping RM 1,731,000 (~$364,387). Australia's Tao Chen would receive RM 972,752 (~$204,771) for his runner-up finish. Asian Poker Tour owner and Triton regular Michael Soyza saw his deep run end in 7th place, taking home RM 235,500 (~$49,573).
Jihao Chen came into the final nine as the chip leader, with almost 30% of all the chips in play. His final table performance was one of dominance as he steadily grinded himself to more than half the chips in play. In the final hand, Chen's 98 made sure his first international score would be a memorable one as he wrote Poker Dream history.
