Spectators and fans of the Triton Super High Roller Series might have expected a famous name to win the festival's opening event. However, the champion of Event #1: $25,000 GGMillion$ Live turned out to be one of the most renowned names of all.

Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 WSOP Main Event champion.

Starting with just one big blind near the money bubble, Moneymaker overcame a field of 163 entries and defeated a star-studded final table to add his illustrious name to the long list of Triton champions.

"I wasn't going to lose today," Moneymaker said. "I could play any hand, and I would win. I was very lucky."

"I hit in situations with 3 outs or 6 outs. I thought to myself, 'You know what, today is going to be like 2003. I'm not losing another hand.'"

This marks the third major victory in Moneymaker's career, following his win at the 2003 WSOP Main Event and his fifth-place finish in the $250,000 Luxon Invitational last August.

"I don't really play many high rollers, but when I do, I enjoy it," Moneymaker said. "I probably won't play many more, but I will definitely come back for a Triton stop."
