Daniel Negreanu had a relatively successful WSOP season, securing his 7th gold bracelet in the "Poker Player Championship" event, along with a prize of $1.2 million. After the WSOP, he took up a role in a scene for the movie "Ick" as a way to unwind. He shared with his fans, “I spent a day in Houston filming a fun scene for a really cool movie.” The film is directed by Joseph Kahn, a well-known figure in the music video industry, having worked with artists like Taylor Swift, DJ Khaled, Eminem, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, U2, and many others.
Negreanu has had a long-standing relationship with director Joseph Kahn, often intersecting poker and entertainment. His cameo in Kahn's project marks an exciting start for Negreanu after weeks of intense poker play.
Daniel Negreanu shared, “I’ve been friends with Joseph since he was making poker commercials, and I’ve made a few cameo appearances in his projects over the years, like ‘Detention,’ ‘Bodied,’ and Katy Perry’s music video ‘Waking Up in Vegas.’” When asked about his role in the new film, Daniel replied, “It’s a little surprise.” Whether Negreanu will be playing himself or taking on a different role remains a mystery.
Negreanu has previously appeared in several films and television projects, including Lucky You, The Grand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Mr. D, and Private Eyes.
Daniel Negreanu shared his thoughts on roles like his appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine: "I enjoy them; they’re a lot of fun. I liked doing stuff like that before I found poker. My favorite episode was ‘Mr. D,’ where I actually got to do some acting. The entire episode revolved around the storyline where I go bankrupt and have to crash on Mr. D’s couch. It’s a Canadian sitcom, and we shot it in Nova Scotia.”
Negreanu also revealed that ICK will have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. According to IMDB, the film is expected to be released in September and is produced by the independent company Interstellar Entertainment.
Regarding his poker plans, Negreanu added, “No vacation for me, but I’ll be heading to Vancouver to livestream the GG Online series in September, and of course, December’s destination is the Bahamas for WSOP Paradise.”
