For the first time, USOP is bringing the excitement and allure of an international tournament to the beautiful port city of Hải Phòng. Building on its established reputation from other 2023 stops like Hanoi, Da Nang, and Taiwan, USOP Hải Phòng is set to be an unmissable destination for poker enthusiasts. With a diverse schedule and impressive guaranteed prize pools, USOP Hải Phòng promises to be a festival that quenches the local community's thirst for poker.
MAIN EVENT
The USOP Hải Phòng organizers have announced a total GTD of VND 60 billion for the entire series, equivalent to over $2 million, ensuring a substantial prize pool for this stop. The Main Event, with a buy-in of VND 30 million (~ $1,200) and a GTD of VND 15 billion—equivalent to 555 buy-ins—will feature four starting flights, beginning on September 19th.
Players will start with 40,000 chips, with levels set at 40 minutes for Flights A, B, and C, and 25 minutes for Flight D. This structure is designed to allow players to showcase their full range of skills. Each flight will play down to 12.5% of the field, meaning all players who advance to Day 2 will be in the money. Day 2 will take place on September 22nd, with the goal of reaching the top 18 players.
In the most recent series at USOP Đà Nẵng, the Main Event recorded an impressive 1,702 entries, pushing the total prize pool to over VND 44 billion (~$1,800,000), making it the largest Main Event in history. After several days of intense competition, Ian Lee emerged as the ultimate champion, defeating Phan Quang Thái in the heads-up battle for the title. Ian Lee took home a staggering prize of VND 7.12 billion (~$287,677).
Alongside the highly anticipated Main Event, USOP Hải Phòng has scheduled several notable events with substantial GTD that are well worth the attention.
MADNESS KICK OFF (buyin: 9M - GTD: 5B)
True to its name, USOP Hải Phòng is kicking off with an exhilarating opening event, featuring a GTD of VND 5 billion, equivalent to 625 entries. Day 1 will include four starting flights over two days, from September 11th to 12th. Players will compete with a structure of 30-minute levels and a starting stack of 30,000 chips. Each flight will play down to the money, with approximately 12.5% of the field advancing to Day 2. This opening event is set to create a festival atmosphere at USOP Hải Phòng right from the start.
CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT (buyin 16,5M - GTD: 4B)
Following the kick-off event, the Championship Event will commence, featuring a GTD equivalent to 266 entries. It will run from September 13th to 15th. The Championship Event will include three Day 1 flights, maintaining the starting stack of 30,000 chips and 30-minute levels. Players can register for Flight A on September 13th or Flights B and C on September 14th. Each flight will play down to the money before advancing to Day 2.
MINI MAIN EVENT (buyin 11M - GTD: 5B)
To keep the excitement high throughout the series, the Mini Main Event will serve as a warm-up before the Main Event. With a buy-in of VND 11 million, USOP Hải Phòng has guaranteed a prize pool of VND 3 billion, equivalent to around 300 entries. The Mini Main Event will feature three Day 1 flights with some intriguing structures. For Day 1A and Day 1B, players will start with 30,000 chips, while Day 1C will have a starting stack of 25,000 chips. Each level will last 30 minutes, and each flight will play down to the money, with approximately 12.5% of the field advancing to Day 2.
Additionally, for those seeking a lighter buy-in and an opportunity to experience the thrill of USOP Hải Phòng, there will be a full schedule of satellite tournaments to start their journey towards winning the trophies.
