Thee USOP Danang 2024 Main Event was off to a flying start, surpassing all USOP Day 1A attendance with its 366 entries. This brought the collected pot more than halfway to the VN₫ 15 Billion (~USD 614,500) guarantee, which means, there is a high chance the guarantee will be broken at Day 1B.
The day started with Vietnamese Triton champion Dao Minh Phu delivering the first casualty however by the end of day, he was nowhere to be found. Leading up to the bubble round, New Zealand’s Thomas Ward was crushing his table that a sigh of relief was heard when he was moved. Ward went on to bag up the second largest stack, just 4 bb behind the leader You Hyun Kim.
The bubble round came quite fast but getting past it was another story. It took several hand-for-hand rounds with at least two tables each round seeing short stacks survive. The bubble was finally deliverd by Jacob Johnston with pocket Eights full house over a player’s trips Kings.
